Air Conditioning System Repairs Are Needed When Refrigerant Levels are Low

Air-conditioners are intended to cool down your home during warm weather. But what happens when it suddenly stops blowing cooled air when it is supposed to? Air conditioners are highly dependent on refrigerant in order to function properly. When the refrigerant gas is below the recommended level, this can be an indicator of refrigerant leakage and requires HVAC expert service for a thorough inspection and repairs.

When refrigerant gas leaks, you will notice that the cooling system blows out more tepid air. If the gas totally runs out, it will no longer produce cool air at all. The system will send out room temperature air because there is no refrigerant to absorb the heat in the cooling chamber. Other things you may notice in a cooling unit with refrigerant leaks include:

  • Evaporator coils that get too cold. Ice can form in the coil itself and to its surrounding components
  • Leaks that produce oily residue
  • A sudden spike in your utility bill since your cooling system will work harder to meet the ideal temperature

If you notice those following signs, contact Central Plumbing and Heating as soon as possible to prevent further damage of your cooling system.
