Traditional Water Heater Vs. Tankless Water Heater

When installing a new water heater, you need to know first the two types of water heaters and their advantages and disadvantages prior to deciding what to use on your home. There's traditional water heater and there's tankless water heater. So which one is better? It's a common matter but the question will be thrown back to the buyer for it actually depends on what will work best for you. To come up with a smart decision, here's a guide to help you pick the right water heater for your home.

Traditional Water Heater will store and preheat 30-50 gallons of water in a tank. The preheated water is used when you shower, do the laundry or wash the dishes. The tank then refills to be re-heated over again. Traditional water heater offers lower installation cost than tankless water heater. In case of damage, traditional water heater installation is affordable and can be replaced easily since it does not require complex setup. However, you may experience higher utility bill due to its mechanism that heat and re-heat water at a preset temperature irrespective of your water necessity. The tank is too large and can take up an entire room. Besides that, it can run out of water and has a shorter life span of about 10-15 years only.

On the other hand, Tankless Water Heater utilizes electric or gas to serve as heat source to warm cool water as necessary, anytime you need it. Instead of storing hot water in a tank. It is more energy efficient of 24%-34% energy savings than traditional water heater. Unlike storage tank water heaters, they are rather small so it doesn't occupy much space as it can be set-up against the wall. They could last for more than 20 years. But more importantly, they can provide 2-3 gallons of hot water each minute you need it. The only downside of tankless water heater is its expensive initial cost and when you switch a conventional tank water heater to tankless system. Tankless water heater installation is more complex so the labor cost is much higher and this adds up to the upfront cost.

ooking at their advantages and disadvantages, if you can afford the tankless water heater, you can avail long term savings. This is also more advisable for larger families since you have more people frequently using more hot water. However, the traditional water heater is more feasible when you're in a tight budget and requires immediate replacement.

Why AC Cleaning Must Be Done Regularly

An air conditioner removes heat from a living space and releases it outside through refrigerant cycle between an indoor and an outdoor unit. The evaporator coil and condenser coil are the two most significant component involved in this process.

When air blows to the evaporator coils, heat is moved from the air in the living space to the refrigerant within the coils and taken outside. On the other hand, when air blows through the condenser coils, heat is moved from the refrigerant within the coils to the air outside.

Therefore, when you have dirt building up on either of the coils, it causes disruption to the heat-transfer process. This implies AC's refrigerant needs to work hard to absorb heat from your living space and release heat outside your home. Since inadequate heat is removed, the environment will be less cool and comfortable. Worse, it will increase the system's energy consumption. Aside from that, when dirt accumulates in the coils, it will develop airflow problems overtime. Your AC system will be susceptible to breakdowns when HVAC routine cleaning and maintenance is not performed.

Have a certified HVAC technician inspect, clean and maintain your air conditioner unit regularly. Through regular cleaning and maintenance, it can extend the life of your AC system as it helps reduce your energy cost. Contact Central Plumbing and Heating Inc. today!
